I am a registered clinical psychologist who provides child, adolescent and adult psychotherapy. I completed my Bachelor of Arts and Honours degrees in Psychology, as well as my Masters in Psychology (100% thesis), at the University of Stellenbosch. I then completed my Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Johannesburg, from which I graduated Cum Laude. I have also gained invaluable experience working with a diverse range of clients during my internship year and community service year at Tara – The H. Moross Centre and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Johannesburg. I am trained in several approaches, including: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. My approach is largely informed by a psychodynamic perspective, though I believe that for therapy to be successful, it must be tailored for the specific needs of the individual, couple or family. In addition to individual therapy, I also offer play therapy for children, couples therapy, family therapy, and parent-infant psychotherapy (under 5s). I am fluent in English and Afrikaans. I have a special interest in attachment difficulties, trauma and loss, mood and anxiety disorders, difficulty managing overwhelming emotions, and psychosis.
Play therapy Play therapy is primarily used to help children ages 3 to 12 explore their lives and freely express repressed thoughts and emotions through play. Family therapy Family therapy focuses on solving problems that prevent a family from functioning in a healthy way. Parent-Infant psychotherapy Parent–Infant Psychotherapy (PIP) is an intervention that aims to improve parental and infant mental health. Parental guidance Parental guidance allows parents to address their feelings. They can find support, guidance and learn skills to address their parenting concerns. Psychological assessments Psychological assessments are used to assess an individual's behavior, personality, cognitive abilities, and several other domains.
