Brescia House School is an independent Catholic girls’ school situated in the heart of Bryanston. Established in 1966, Brescia House School is one of South Africa’s leading girls’ schools. Their class of 2022 achieved 100% pass rate, 100% university entrance, 11 placements in the top 1% of specific subjects and an average of 3.2 distinctions per candidate.
The motto of the school, ‘Serviam’ means ‘I will serve’, and a spirit of service to the community is encouraged in the pupils.
Whilst remaining true to the vision of our founders, we welcome pupils of all denominations, encouraging them to explore many aspects of religion and spirituality.

The newly built Brescia Bears early learning centre welcomes girls and boys aged 3 to 5 years old.
From Grades R to 12, a wide range of academic subjects is on offer, and pupils participate in a variety of extramural sporting and cultural activities.
In the primary school there are two phases: the Foundation Phase - Grades R to 3 and the Intermediate Phase - Grades 4 to 6.
Foundation Phase skills include Literacy, Numeracy, Beginning Knowledge, Life Skills – including Arts and Culture and ICT. In the Intermediate Phase, girls continue to develop their skills and talents in language, learning and communication (English, Afrikaans and isiZulu), Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Technology and Arts and Culture. Inquiry-Based Learning further enhances these programmes.
The Grade 7s are part of the Secondary School and continue their path in the Senior Phase - Grades 7 to 9. The FET phase comprises Grades 10 to 12. Pupils are prepared for the matriculation examinations set by the Independent Examinations Board, and we are proud of our consistently high achievement record in these examinations. National and International Benchmark Tests are also conducted across all grades.
The school is a full-service educational facility offering a variety of curricular and co-curricular educational programmes and aftercare facilities.

Beyond their classes, students will participate in a wide array of integrated cultural activities throughout the week. Public speaking and debating develop confident and articulate young women and provide them with invaluable skills that will serve them well throughout life. Field trips, tours and outings are a regular feature of school life.
Music is also a vital part of school life, and the school has four active choirs and several instrumental ensembles. The recent launch of the Brescia House School Music Institute will enable students to be exposed to music production and technology. Students can take music production, and complete Rockschool production examinations. They also learn to record music and songs in the school’s recording booth.
The main purpose of sport at Brescia House School is to provide each individual pupil with the knowledge and experience to want to be FIT FOR LIFE.
Our sporting facilities include two hockey fields, a mini astro, a full aquatic complex with heated pools and a hotpot, and eight tennis/netball courts.
Sporting activities include swimming, diving, artistic swimming, hockey, netball, soccer, athletics, tennis, cross country, and orienteering. Off-campus, students can participate in the school equestrian team, and a CrossFit programme is offered to the Brescia House School students at CrossFit Proform, next door to the school.
Bursaries and Academic Scholarships can be applied for, for the pupil's Grade 8 year of entry.
ICT
The girls are taught coding from Grade R, all the way through Primary School. They continue to attend ICT lessons in the High School, and use a variety of applications to assist with coding and robotics. From Grade 10, Java is the programming language taught during Information Technology.
The introduction of laptops to all students in grades 4 to 12 ensures that the students receive a first-class education and are well-equipped for the future. In addition to this, Brescia House School has been identified as a Microsoft Showcase School since 2013.
In this day and age it is important to mix tradition with innovation, but never letting the one over-shadow the other. The school has achieved a balance by combining a values-based education, with innovative and meaningful educational practices. This allows the girls to become the best version of themselves, and leave school at the end of matric as confident young women with the skills needed to be successful global citizens.
