We believe in creating a safe, nurturing environment in which each pupil is valued, encouraged and enabled to develop to their full potential. Our pupils are educated not only to succeed academically but also to approach the world as confident, compassionate, well-rounded and integrated human beings. Our motto – Virtute et Valore [The Courage to do what is Right] speaks for itself. By continuing in the footsteps of our founding father, Bishop Robert Gray, who believed that all children deserved to be educated, the school accommodates children of all academic abilities in an inclusively diverse environment where each child is treated as an individual and those needing additional support are given the opportunity to excel to the best of their ability.

Day school

Music & Art In the Prep School every pupil attends art and music weekly. Singing, theory and music appreciation lessons are part of the Music curriculum in the Prep school and there is the opportunity to join the Marimba band or the wind ensemble and the beginnings of an orchestra. St George’s Cathedral Choir is well known in Cape Town and abroad. Every child has the opportunity of joining this choir at a young age. Our vibrant Art department offers all forms of visual art as well as aspects of Art History and Appreciation. Other extra-mural activities offer in the High School are Drama Club, Acapella, Debating, Contemporary Dance and the Green Committee, while in the Prep School the pupils can join in on the Art Club, Drama, Debating, Coding and Chess. The optional private extra-murals that Prep School pupils can enjoy include Playball, Judo, Ballet, Nature Network, Living Maths, Robotics, Contemporary Dance and Kids Clay.

Sport is an integral part of the curriculum and all pupils are encouraged to participate. Teams play in the appropriate leagues and full recognition is given to those sports which are not offered at the school. Opportunities for large team sports are limited by numbers. In the High School the sport offering includes cricket, soccer, table tennis, swimming, badminton, chess, squash, hockey (boys & girls), netball and we enter the appropriate leagues in the Southern Suburbs. In the Prep School sports offered include Cricket, Swimming, Hockey, Soccer, Squash, Tennis, Cross-Country and Athletics.

No bursaries but we do have a Grade 8 Scholarship Programme, where the assessment is written in the child's Grade 7 year.
