Religious
We are a Christian school with a Methodist ethos that integrates spirituality into daily school life. Our pupils, who represent many different denominations, participate in weekly chapel services and have many opportunities for fellowship, worship and service. We hold special chapel services throughout the year to celebrate Christian holidays, such as Easter and Christmas. We welcome pupils of all faiths.
At the Pre-Primary, we adopt an engaged learning process, underpinned by the soundest educational principles whereby pupils “learn by doing”. The aim of all our programmes is to enhance creativity and encourage self-discovery. Grades RRR and RR are taught the skills of small-group activities and the basic concepts of numeracy, literacy and life skills. We also focus on emotional, social and physical development (fine and gross motor skills). The school readiness programme begins in Grade R and includes numeracy, literacy and life skills. It is an activity-based programme that encourages concept formation and skills training.
Not available at pre-primary level
All our pupils, from pre-primary level upwards, are exposed to the visual and performing arts. They receive drama, art and music lessons under the guidance of specialist teachers. Throughout the week in the Pre-Primary, pupils participate in physical development rings, music/drama rings, discussion rings, art activities, nature walks, problem solving activities and baking. The Grade RR classes also attend a weekly music lesson. Pupils can also receive private piano lessons at an additional cost.
Sport and physical education activities are built into the school day and are an important component of the curriculum. We firmly believe that purposeful, stimulated play teaches young children how to cope with real-life issues and that 'learning by doing" enhances creativity and encourages self-discovery. In addition to activities such as ball skills and swimming, the school offers a range of user-paid activities that take place after school hours.
On application, financial assistance is offered to parents whose children are already enrolled in the school.
