We are a Christian school with a Methodist ethos that integrates spirituality into daily school life. Our pupils, who represent many different denominations, participate in weekly chapel services and have many opportunities for fellowship, worship and service. We hold special chapel services throughout the year to celebrate Christian holidays, such as Easter and Christmas. We welcome pupils of all faiths.
In Grades 1 to 7, we offer a balanced academic programme that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity. We emphasise the development of basic skills as a foundation for all learning and encourage our pupils to become independent thinkers. Information and communication technology, life orientation, design and technology, art, drama, music and physical education all form part of the daily programme.

All our pupils, from pre-primary level upwards, are exposed to the visual and performing arts. They receive drama, art and music lessons under the guidance of specialist teachers. A comprehensive music programme, which runs throughout the year, features all pupils in Grades 1 and 2 learning the recorder, all Grade 3s receiving small group tuition in violin, and all Grade 4 pupils having clarinet lessons. Individual ballet, group hip-hop and contemp-hop lessons are offered at an extra cost for those interested in dance. Every year, we stage theatrical productions, which are inclusive of all pupils, and an art exhibition, which highlights the creative work of everyone from Grade RRR to 7.
Sport forms an integral part of life for every Epworth pupil. The skills developed and honed on the sports field contribute positively to a holistic and balanced education. We embrace mass participation while championing sporting success, ensuring that we accommodate each pupil’s ability and aspiration. Our sports programmes cater equally for beginners, intermediate and advanced athletes. We have a core of experienced and highly qualified sports staff, complemented by coaches who are specialists in their disciplines.
