Ethembeni School was established in October 1984 as a State Subsidised Special School for learners with physical disabilities by the former Department of Education and Training. In 1989, the school took over for the blind and partially-sighted learners from Vuleka School. Over the years, our wonderful school has grown substantially. We are continuously procuring more students, many of which are in boarding hostels as they come from families living hundreds of kilometres away. At our current capacity, Ethembeni School caters for the physically disabled and visually impaired children from all over Kwa-Zulu Natal, Kingdom of the Zulu (South Africa).
